ClearLake Cold Water Clarifier

When the water drops below about 52°F / 11°C, ordinary pond bacteria slow down. Leaves, twigs, and fish waste still settle and stain the water. This ClearLake formula uses cold-tolerant strains in water-soluble bags so you can keep treating the water column through fall, winter, and early spring.

Same job as ClearLake Pond & Lake Clarifier — suspended organics, off-color water — different temperature range.

Switch products when the thermometer says so. Do not run both clarifiers as a “double dose” in the same week unless you have a reason.

This is not an algaecide, not a dye, not a flocculant, and not a heater. Results vary with temperature, ice cover, aeration, and how evenly you spread the bags.

Sizes and coverage (when dosed as directed):

Same acre rates as the warm-water bags.

• Initial: 6 lb per surface acre
• Maintenance: 2 to 3 lb per surface acre every 2 weeks
• 1 bag = 8 oz

8 lb covers a ½-acre first dose or several maintenance rounds.
24 lb is the season bucket for about 1 acre.

How to use:

1. Confirm water is in the cold range (below about 52°F).
2. Figure surface acres. Do not guess.
3. First treatment: 6 lb per acre.
4. Toss bags in a grid. Do not pile them in one spot.
5. Repeat 2–3 lb per acre every 2 weeks while the water stays cold.
6. Keep some circulation if you can. Bacteria still need oxygen. Do not dose into a solid ice sheet with no open water.

For Southern California ponds:

You may only need this product for a short stretch of cool weeks, or after a heavy leaf drop. When daytime water is back in the 50s and rising, switch to the regular Pond & Lake Clarifier.

Fish and plants:

Intended for ponds and lakes with fish and plants when used as directed. Follow the label.

What this is not:

• Not the warm-water ClearLake clarifier
• Not muck tablets
• Not a winter algae killer
• Not a substitute for netting leaves before they sink

FAQ

Can I use this in summer?
It is made for cold water. In warm weather buy Pond & Lake Clarifier.

Will it work under ice?
Only if you have open water to throw bags into and some movement. It will not treat a sealed frozen pond.

Same rate as the green-label clarifier?
Yes. 6 lb/acre first, then 2–3 lb every two weeks. The difference is the temperature, not the math.
