ClearLake Muck Eliminator Tablets

These are concentrated beneficial-bacteria tablets from ClearLake (ProLake / Keeton). They sink through the water and start working in the organic muck on the bottom — leaves, fish waste, dead plant material — instead of floating or dissolving only in open water.

Use them on the whole pond, or target high-traffic spots: shoreline, beach, swim area, and around docks. They are intended to help reduce organic sediment and the rotten-egg smell that comes from anaerobic sludge when used as directed through the warm season. Results vary with muck depth, temperature, oxygen, fish load, and how evenly you apply the tablets.

This product is not a dye, not an algaecide, and not a substitute for dredging a pond that is already filled in. It is also not a replacement for a filter, UV sterilizer, or aeration.

Sizes and coverage (when dosed as directed)

Label rates are by surface acre, not by gallons.

• Initial application: 6 lb per surface acre
• Maintenance: 2 to 3 lb per surface acre every 2 weeks
• 1 tablet = ¼ oz

Rough guide to which bucket to buy (capacity estimate only):

• 4 lb — targeted spots, or a short program on a small pond
• 8 lb — a ½-acre initial dose, or several maintenance rounds on a smaller pond
• 24 lb — best cost per pound. One acre initial dose (6 lb) plus a full warm-season maintenance schedule at 2 lb every 2 weeks uses most of the bucket

How to use:

1. Use when water temperature is above 50°F (10°C).
2. Calculate surface acres. Do not guess. Surface acres = length (ft) × width (ft) ÷ 43,560.
3. For the first treatment, apply 6 lb per surface acre.
4. Spread tablets evenly so they fall in a grid across the area you want to treat. Do not dump the whole dose in one pile.
5. You can treat the whole pond or only muck-heavy zones.
6. Repeat 2 to 3 lb per surface acre every 2 weeks through the season.
7. Keep aeration running. Bacteria work faster when the bottom has oxygen.

For best results:

• Pair with a fountain, air diffuser, or waterfall so the bottom does not stay stale
• Keep using a filter and UV for green water and debris — this product works on sludge, not pea-soup algae
• Stay on the two-week schedule; muck reduction is a season-long process
• Do not stack this with a chemical algae treatment on the same day unless both labels allow it

Fish, plants, and swimming:

When used as directed, this product is intended for ponds and lakes that contain fish, plants, and wildlife. Follow the label. If fish show stress, increase aeration and pause dosing until the pond settles.

What this is not:

• Not a copper or peroxide algae treatment (that is a different product, such as Algae No-Mo)
• Not Pure Bale (barley-straw + bacteria gel for weekly water-column support)
• Not instant dredging
• Not a UV sterilizer

FAQ

Do I dose by gallons or by acres?
By surface area. A deep ¼-acre pond and a shallow ¼-acre pond get the same tablet dose.

Which size should I buy?
4 lb if you only want to treat a dock or a small water garden. 8 lb for a mid-size start. 24 lb if you have about an acre or you want the best price per pound for a full season.

Can I use this with Pure Bale or Algae No-Mo?
Different jobs. Tablets for bottom muck, Pure Bale for weekly water-column support, Algae No-Mo for visible algae when the label allows it. Do not apply everything on the same day.

When will I see less muck?
Expect a gradual change over weeks and months, not overnight. Aeration speeds it up.
